Bitrate refers to the number of bits (data) processed per second when recording or streaming audio. Higher bitrates yield better audio quality but result in larger file sizes. Most podcasts use a bitrate of 128kbps for spoken word content.

Example: A podcast with a 320kbps bitrate would sound clearer than one with a 96kbps bitrate, but the file size would be much larger.

Use Case: Higher bitrates are important for music-heavy or highly-produced podcasts.

Tools: Audio editing software (Audacity, Adobe Audition).
